Tanya's Journey

Tanya Walker is an established award-winning singer-songwriter, composer, musician & and choir leader from Brecon, Mid Wales. She performs as both a solo artist and with an accompanying band, often supported by a variety of highly skilled internationally renowned musicians in her haunting, emotive, piano-driven performances.

Global Winner of the Talent Is Timeless Songwriting Competition 2023, her song ‘Good Days, Bad Days’ was selected as the winning song out of 3150 entries from Canada and Europe, and was recorded at Abbey Rd Studios with the release date set for early in 2024 through JAM Records London. She features in October's edition of My Weekly magazine and following release, her song will be played at Café Neros throughout the UK.
Highlights include: 
  • PRS/FOPP Stores Competition Best Singer-Songwriter for Southwest & Wales with EP release of ‘The Changing Me'.
  • St David Hospice National Song Search Winner, single released with Black Mountains Records.
  • Support to Tim Minchin at Hay Festival’s Main Barclaycard Arena performing her Arts Council of Wales funded new musical multidisciplinary work 'Breaking the Fearwall’.

Choirs

As well as a songwriter and performer, Tanya leads five community choirs in Wales and also creates opportunities for young people from Rhondda Cynon Taf to build confidence and resilience through original music making as part of the Council's SONIG project. Her most recent high-profile single release ‘Lay Your Head On Me’ featured her Alive & Kickin’ Community Choir was recorded in aid of the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy charity, ‘Harrisons Fund’, following the discovery that this terminal illness impacted a choir member's young family. The song has gone on to be sung by schools and community choirs across the UK.
